The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has threatened to expel its legislative caucus if they fail to attend an emergency meeting scheduled for today.
The meeting is slated to be held beginning 12 PM today, at the CDC Party Headquarters.
The party’s Legislative Caucus including Senators and Representatives has been asked to sit with the National Executive Committee at the party’s headquarters while the Political Leader is expected to participate via zoom to discuss and find remedy to the impasse on Capitol Hill.
The party’s bold warning, indicated that it will not hesitate to expel violators of its mandate and that it will ask partisans not be in support of affected lawmakers.
“Anyone failing to attend said meeting or return to status quo ante will be expelled from the party and their constituents our partisans notified appropriately not to work with them”, the statement from the party asserted.
Meanwhile, CDC has called on the International Community to swiftly intervene in what they termed as “Mr. Boakai’s attempts to destabilize the country.”
It has also given a 72 hour ultimatum to President Joseph Boakai, threatening a mass protest if the government does not refrain from allegedly orchestrating the removal of House Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa.
“Within 72 hours if Mr. Boakai doesn’t desist from harassing the Speaker, the CDC will carry out unspecified actions especially a non-stop mass protest across the country calling for his step down!”
At the same time, CDC revealed that it had met the Deputy Speaker, Thomas Fallah and that the meeting with him was fruitful.
According to the CDC , information that he’s a progenitor of the removal of the Speaker is a lie and misconception being allegedly proffered by Mr. Boakai and his surrogates.
The statement concluded that Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah will be in today’s meeting and will aide the ongoing efforts.
