Rep. Prescilla Cooper Pulls Support for Speaker Koffa’s Removal Again

In the midst of ongoing leadership standoff within Liberia’s House of Representatives, Representative Prescilla A. Cooper of District #5, Montserrado County, has withdrawn her signature again, from the petition to remove Speaker J. Fonati Koffa.

Cooper’s decision marks her second withdrawal from the embattled effort to unseat Koffa, further complicating the Majority bloc’s attempts to secure the necessary support for his ouster.

Representative Cooper’s fluctuating stance has drawn attention amid heightened tensions on Capitol Hill, where lawmakers remain divided over Speaker Koffa’s leadership.

Although Cooper initially backed the motion for his removal, her latest withdrawal could signal growing uncertainty among members of the Majority bloc.

Her withdrawal has somehow weakened the Majority bloc’s position, especially as it attempts to navigate the procedural challenges emphasized by Associate Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay during a recent court conference on the issue.

With Capitol Hill in a state of flux, Cooper’s decision introduces yet another layer of uncertainty as lawmakers prepare for a session that could shape the direction of the legislative chamber’s leadership.
