EPS Suspends Four Officers for Soliciting Money

The Executive Protection Service (EPS) has taken decisive action by indefinitely suspending four officers accused of unethical conduct, specifically soliciting money from guests at the President’s residence.

The announcement was made in a press release issued on December 4, 2024, and signed by EPS Director Sam Gaye.

According to the statement, the EPS Administration became aware that some of its officers had developed an inappropriate habit of soliciting gratuities from individuals at the Executive Mansion grounds and during national security events.

This behavior, the statement emphasized, constitutes a gross violation of the ethical standards expected of EPS officers, who are sworn to maintain professionalism, uphold the law, and protect Liberia’s highest officeholders.

Director Gaye made it unequivocally clear that the EPS will not tolerate such misconduct. The suspended officers now face disciplinary action, including possible dismissal, as the EPS aims to uphold public trust and its commitment to service excellence.

The Administration stressed that such measures are essential to maintaining the high standards and integrity that define the institution.

“While the misconduct of a few tarnishes the reputation of the Service, it is important to recognize the outstanding dedication and professionalism of the majority of EPS officers, who serve with honor and diligence,” the statement read.

The EPS reaffirmed its commitment to addressing internal breaches and ensuring its personnel adhere to the highest ethical standards. To further enhance transparency and accountability, the Service encouraged the public to report any additional incidents of misconduct.

The press release concluded with an appeal for collective efforts to uphold integrity and excellence, which are the cornerstones of the EPS’s mission.
