MoPW Launches Chicken Soup Factory Road Construction

The long-awaited construction of the Chicken Soup Factory Road officially kicked off on December 11, with a groundbreaking ceremony led by Minister of Public Works Roland L. Giddings. The event marked the beginning of a major infrastructure project designed to enhance accessibility and alleviate transportation challenges for residents of Gardnersville.

Addressing an enthusiastic crowd, Minister Giddings reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure as part of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID). He emphasized road construction as a critical component of the President’s vision for urban community development, noting that roads remain a top priority for the administration.

“This project is a testament to President Boakai’s commitment to fulfilling promises and addressing the needs of our communities. We encourage all residents to cooperate with QE24 Group, the contractor, for this project’s smooth and successful implementation,” Minister Giddings stated.

The Chicken Soup Factory Road project spans 4.1 kilometers, stretching from the Chicken Soup Factory Junction to Johnsonville, which has long struggled with poor road conditions. Deputy Minister for Technical Services, Prince Tambah revealed that the road would be built with concrete pavement, and the project is expected to be completed within 24 months.

Community Chairman William Yarngo deeply thanks President Boakai for fulfilling his promise to pave the road. “This is a dream come true for us. For years, our community has suffered from poor road conditions, and today, we see hope for the future,” Yarngo remarked, noting the transformative effect the project will have on daily life in the area.

The groundbreaking ceremony was a powerful symbol of the Boakai administration’s dedication to addressing the pressing infrastructural needs of Liberia’s urban communities. “This road has been a nightmare for us for years, but now we see hope and transformation. We thank President Boakai for this life-changing project,” Yarngo added.

Minister Giddings urged the community to cooperate with the contractors to ensure the road’s timely and successful completion. The Chicken Soup Factory Road project is a key step in the President’s plan to improve Liberia’s infrastructure and foster inclusive development nationwide.

The project is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve transportation links, and stimulate economic activity in the region, providing long-term benefits to the community and beyond. The groundbreaking event marks a significant milestone in the Boakai administration’s efforts to enhance the quality of life for all Liberians and address the nation’s infrastructural challenges.
