Bishop John Allan Klayee’s humanitarian mission in Liberia continues to grow, as Feed the Hungry USA, under its Liberian branch, Feed the Hungry West Africa, launched a new phase of its feeding initiative. On December 21, 2024, the organization extended its reach by including four additional orphanages in its monthly distribution of food and supplies, further cementing the Bishop’s long-standing commitment to alleviating hunger and improving the lives of Liberia’s most vulnerable.
This initiative, part of the ongoing “Every Day, Every Child” program, was first established in 2006 when Bishop Klayee began his efforts to combat poverty and hunger in Liberia. The new recipients of the program’s generosity include the Peter Seclco Orphanage Home, Lehkpehs Town Orphanage Home, Temas Orphanage Home in Bomi County, and Children Rescue Orphanage in Mount Barclay. These orphanages were provided with essential food items such as rice, cornmeal, clothing, footwear, and toothbrushes, all of which are vital for the well-being of the children and staff members.
Bishop Klayee emphasized the year-round nature of the program, underlining that feeding the hungry is a continuous commitment and not merely a seasonal or one-off event. “This is not just a seasonal gesture. Feeding the hungry is our calling, and we are dedicated to this mission every single day,” he said during the event at Lehkpehs Town Orphanage Home, where he personally delivered the supplies. His words resonate deeply with those benefiting from the program, as many have expressed gratitude for the ongoing support. One child at the orphanage remarked, “We are thankful to Bishop Klayee and his team for showing us love when we needed it most.”
Feed the Hungry West Africa’s work is bolstered through its partnership with LeSEA Global Feed the Hungry, allowing the program to operate 19 feeding centers across Liberia. These centers serve over 19,000 children, and the program’s impact extends to schools, churches, elderly communities, and even a hospital in Nimba County, ensuring that a wide array of vulnerable individuals are reached.
Reflecting on a poignant moment that solidified his purpose, Bishop Klayee recalled an encounter with a child who told him they had no one to love them. “That moment broke my heart, but it also reminded me why we do this work—to give love and support to those who need it most,” the Bishop shared. Such personal stories keep him motivated and reaffirm his commitment to the mission of providing essential care and nourishment to those in need.
The success of this feeding initiative is due in large part to the support from local and international organizations, including Liberty Church in Fairfield, California, and the collaborative efforts with the Liberian government. The latter ensures that food shipments are processed efficiently, enabling the timely delivery of aid. Bishop Klayee expressed his profound appreciation for these partnerships, which are crucial for sustaining the program’s growth and effectiveness.
The administrators of the orphanages receiving aid also expressed their gratitude, noting that the program has brought significant relief to children who are often forgotten by the wider society. “This initiative shines a light on those who may otherwise be overlooked, offering them hope and a chance to thrive,” one administrator remarked.
What began as a modest effort in 2006 when Bishop Klayee took in three abandoned infants at his church on Old Road has since blossomed into a far-reaching program helping thousands. By the end of that year, the program was already providing for 19 children, and its scope has continued to expand, reaching a broader spectrum of the population. The program now serves various groups beyond orphanages, including schools, churches, and even healthcare facilities, extending its impact to all corners of Liberia.
The connection to LeSEA Global Feed the Hungry, made possible through Bishop Klayee’s relationship with Liberty Church, has been instrumental in scaling up the initiative. This partnership has facilitated the establishment of feeding centers and the consistent flow of resources needed to support the growing demand for aid.
Bishop Klayee remains steadfast in his belief that true ministry extends beyond preaching in churches. “Ministry is about being present in people’s lives and showing love through tangible actions,” he stated. This belief is at the heart of his humanitarian work, which continues to touch lives across Liberia, transforming communities one meal at a time.
Looking ahead, Bishop Klayee’s mission remains clear: to provide essential support to every vulnerable child and individual in Liberia. His deep sense of compassion and unwavering commitment to service continues to inspire others to join the fight against hunger and poverty.
Through Feed the Hungry, Bishop Klayee’s organization is not just addressing immediate food needs but also bringing hope to Liberia’s most neglected populations. As the program evolves and grows, it strives to ensure that no child or individual is left behind, offering them the opportunity to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.
In the coming years, the program aims to expand further, reaching even more communities across Liberia. Bishop Klayee’s work serves as a reminder that lasting change begins with small acts of kindness and that each effort, no matter how small, has the power to uplift those in need. Through his leadership, the initiative continues to bring much-needed relief and compassion to some of Liberia’s most underserved populations, ensuring that hope and support are always within reach for those who need it the most.
