Pres. Boakai Emphasizes Strengthening Rule of Law

Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and fostering a just society during his keynote address at the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) induction ceremony.

Speaking at the event held at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex, Boakai welcomed newly elected LNBA President Cllr. Bornor M. Varmah and his executive team. He congratulated them on their new roles and acknowledged the crucial part the Bar plays in safeguarding democracy and ensuring justice for all Liberians.

The president emphasized that legal professionals must uphold ethical standards, professionalism, and independence in executing their duties. He highlighted the indispensable role of the rule of law in maintaining stability and order in the country.

“The rule of law is the foundation of any stable and civilized society,” President Boakai stated. “Without it, justice falters, and the dreams of our people fade away.”

Boakai stressed that a robust legal framework is fundamental to Liberia’s growth and development. He assured the LNBA of his government’s readiness to collaborate with the legal community in strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring equitable access to justice for all citizens, regardless of their social or economic standing.

The president called on the LNBA to remain politically neutral and to uphold transparency and accountability. He urged legal practitioners to enhance legal education, promote good governance, and advocate for the fair treatment of all individuals under the law.

The ceremony, attended by members of the judiciary, the National Legislature, the diplomatic corps, legal professionals, and other distinguished guests, underscored the significance of the legal community’s role in shaping the nation’s future.

In closing, President Boakai reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to working closely with the LNBA in upholding justice, equality, and the rule of law, which he described as essential pillars for Liberia’s progress and stability.
