Invited as a sponsor and a special guest, Liberian activist in exile Martin K. N. Kollie, echoed the significance of World Hijab Day while emphasizing the important role that Islamic women and girls have played and continue to play in Liberia.
“Today is a special day. It is a day that embodies modesty and peace. We must live together as one in pursuit of peace, solidarity, and harmony. We are one nation. Our Islamic sisters and mothers will forever remain special to us and their contribution cannot be overemphasized as this special day of wearing Hijab is being globally observed,” Kollie said.
