A well-known local hunter from Foya District, Lofa county, who later led what local residents termed “Youth in Defense of Foya” said he won’t sit back to allow their land to be taken.
Speaking to Verity News, the hunter said he had to quickly return from the bush to defend their territory.
“Our parents left this land with us. We can’t allow anyone to take it. It will never happen. I am here now from the bush. I brought other hunters. The youth had to quickly send for me. I am not leaving from here again. We are waiting. Let them come back,” the hunter said, as the youth cheered him.
When asked what he was carrying on his head like a ‘horn,’ he responded, “…it is my gun medicine. No bullet can come close.”
It can be recalled that some armed Guinean soldiers reportedly crossed into Liberia’s territory and hoisted their flag since March 10, 2026, which led to the escalation of an alleged territorial dispute at the Liberia-Guinea border.
A Liberian man, Edward Lebbie, 44, was shot in his left thigh allegedly by Guinean soldiers this morning, March 11, 2026.
More details to follow.
