In a bid to improve access to safe drinking water, Action Transforming Lives (ACTs), a local non-governmental organization, has dedicated fifteen new hand pumps to communities, school, and a health facility across Rivercess County.
The official handover ceremony of the donation took place on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in Little Liberia, Fehn River District, bringing together jubilant residents, local leaders, and county officials.
Communities that benefited from the donation include: Lower Timbo Public School, Fehn River Clinic, Wruah Town, Whaegar Town, Gballah Town, Queh Town and Daryazohn. Others include: Gbaejoleo Town, Goodyear Town, Duo, Sannah Town, Gbediah Town, Yarpah among others.
Speaking at the ceremony, Madam Matharline Barkon, Finance and Administrative Officer of ACTs, urged residents to use the facilities wisely and maintain them for their intended purpose. She reaffirmed ACTs’ commitment to continue working alongside the Rivercess County Administration to enhance the wellbeing of the people.
“We are here to ensure that our people have safe drinking water. This is just the beginning of our continued support to Rivercess County,” Madam Barkon stated.
In appreciation of efforts towards the successful completion of the project, Mr. Bon Jadawee presented certificates of recognition to key individuals and institutions.
Honorees included Rivercess County Development Officer Madam Estella Logan, Madam Matharline Barkon of ACTs, and Mr. Thomas Quaqui of the County Health Team.
Residents expressed gratitude to ACTs, describing the intervention as timely, especially during the rainy season when clean water sources are often contaminated.
The dedication of these hand pumps marks a significant milestone in improving public health and reducing the burden of waterborne diseases across communities in Timbo District and beyond.
