Justine Combaquie, an employee of Roberts International Airport, was discovered near the Gban River in the River View Community early Wednesday morning, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
A 15-Man jury, consisting of community members, media representatives, and police personnel, conducted a preliminary inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Combaquie’s death. According to their report, there was no evidence of foul play.
Although a visible injury was found on the deceased’s head, the jury ruled it to be a “crab-cut” and not a chop wound as previously speculated.
People Matalay, Chairman of the River View Community and a member of the jury panel, confirmed the report in an interview with Verity News, reiterating that the findings showed no sign of violent intent.
Despite the official report, the jury’s conclusion has sparked mixed reactions among residents. Family members, including Combaquie’s mother, have strongly rejected the panel’s findings through her reaction upon arriving on the scene.
The Gban River, which forms the border between Unification Town commonly known as ‘Smell No Taste’ and Dolo Town, has seen an increase in reported deaths, most of which occur during the rainy season.
