The Executive Director of BGS Media & Marketing Consultancy firm and an independent political and policy analyst, Abdullah Kiatamba has issued a strong and impassioned appeal for the Liberian government to move beyond rhetoric and deliver tangible results that directly benefit ordinary citizens.
In an exclusive interview on a local radio station in Monrovia on Monday, Kiatamba underscored the growing frustration among the public, stressing the urgent need for the government to align its promises with the actual needs and daily experiences of its people.
He cited recent challenges faced by students seeking vacation employment at the Ministry of Labor, describing the ordeal as deeply “embarrassing.” According to Kiatamba, such incidents highlight the widespread disillusionment that arises when government commitments fail to translate into real, practical support—particularly for the youth, who often feel overlooked and frustrated.
“This situation clearly illustrates the disconnect between what is promised and what is delivered,” he said.
To address these recurring issues and rebuild public trust, Kiatamba called for a more organized and proactive government approach. He recommended the creation of dedicated programs within each ministry aimed specifically at delivering real support and opportunities to citizens. These initiatives, he argued, would prevent the kinds of setbacks students recently experienced and provide clear, reliable access to government services.
Kiatamba’s call to action went beyond student concerns. He urged the Liberian government to design and implement broad, strategic programs intended to fundamentally improve the lives of struggling citizens. He emphasized the need for a three-tiered approach: short-term assistance to meet immediate needs, long-term development initiatives to encourage sustained growth, and permanent support systems to ensure ongoing progress and stability.
His vision includes comprehensive, inclusive programs that empower Liberians at every stage of life—helping them build strong foundations and pursue lasting opportunities for personal and economic advancement.
Kiatamba’s remarks serve as a powerful reminder of the enduring gap between policy declarations and the real-life challenges faced by ordinary citizens—and the pressing need for action to close that gap.
