Alleged Scandal Rocks NaFAA As Workers Union Rejects DG Glassco

The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority Workers Association (NaFAAWA) has taken a decisive stance against the Director General of the institution, Emma Glassco, citing alleged misconduct and dictatorial tendencies within the organization.

The resolution, read by the association’s Secretary General Isaac Patrick Johns, highlights a litany of grievances ranging from illegal dismissals to financial improprieties.

Johns emphasized Glassco’s alleged disregard for established employment regulations and labor laws, accusing her of orchestrating dismissals without adherence to due process.

He further lamented her refusal to heed interventions from various oversight bodies and the persistent violation of the NaFAA Human Resource Policy.

The association’s concerns extend beyond internal HR issues, with accusations of financial mismanagement and misuse of state resources.

Glassco is alleged to have utilized NaFAA resources for political campaigns and engaged in activities detrimental to the interests of the Government of Liberia, including involvement in offshore financial transactions.

Furthermore, the resolution highlights disparities in salary distribution, transportation inequities, and a lack of accountability in revenue generation.

John pointedly criticizes Glassco’s purported lavish lifestyle against the organization’s financial struggles and the alleged neglect of employee welfare.

The resolution, addressed to Alexander Nuetah, Chair of the Board of NaFAA, and copied to relevant government ministers, underscores the gravity of the situation and the association’s demand for accountability and reform within the institution.

Despite repeated attempts to reach Glassco for comment, she has remained silent on the allegations, leaving the accusations unanswered and further fueling the controversy surrounding her leadership.

The resolution signals a significant rift between NaFAAWA and the leadership of NaFAA, raising questions about the future direction of the organization and the need for swift action to address the concerns raised by the workers’ association.
