Ambassador-Designate Pledges to Strengthen Liberia-Saudi Arabia Ties

Monrovia – Ambassador-designate to Saudi Arabia, Amara Soko Sackor, has vowed to strengthen diplomatic relations between Liberia and Saudi Arabia if confirmed by the Liberian Senate. Appearing before the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, Sackor outlined his vision for enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, education, health, and cultural exchange.

Nominated by President Joseph Boakai, Sackor faces Senate scrutiny as part of the confirmation process. During the hearing, he assured lawmakers that his diplomatic efforts would prioritize Liberia’s interests, emphasizing the potential for deeper economic and political collaboration between the two nations. He highlighted investment opportunities and the importance of fostering stronger ties in key sectors that could benefit both countries.

Sackor also expressed interest in leveraging Saudi Arabia’s growing influence in global sports, particularly football, to create opportunities for Liberian athletes. He proposed initiatives that would facilitate talent exchange and strategic partnerships in the sports sector.

With the committee now deliberating on his nomination, Sackor awaits a final decision that will determine his role in shaping Liberia’s diplomatic engagement with the Gulf region.
