Tukpablee, Bong County – A young man identified as Alvin Kpeleh, a resident of Weakaigar Town, was reportedly killed in the early morning hours of Monday, December 8, 2025, after being struck by an ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) train in the Tukpablee Administrative District, Bong County.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. along the Pecafa Kilometer 108 rail line. Community members said Alvin was last seen on Sunday night at a local entertainment center in the district. His remains were discovered early Monday morning along the tracks shortly after the AML train had passed through the area.
The incident has left residents of Weakaigar and nearby towns in shock, as Alvin was widely regarded as a peaceful and hardworking young man.
Local authorities in Kokoyah Statutory District, working alongside the Liberia National Police, have begun initial engagements with community leaders as part of an ongoing investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. The tragedy has also reignited public concern over safety measures along the ArcelorMittal Liberia rail corridor, particularly in communities situated close to the tracks.
Residents are calling for stronger preventive measures, increased public awareness, and enhanced railway security to avert similar incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, community members are urging the national police to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to provide clarity and justice for the bereaved family.
