The Leader of the Opposition Party, Alternative National Congress (ANC), has commended the Supreme Court of Liberia for its recent ruling, which he termed as the Court’s unwavering commitment to the rule of law, constitutional order, and judicial independence.“
In the face of political tension and uncertainty, the Court has spoken with authority and fairness. Its ruling provides a necessary foundation for national stability and reaffirms that the laws of our country must be respected by ALL – regardless of position or political alignment,” Cummings said.Cummings however acknowledged and commended Speaker J. Fonati Koffa for his courage, restraint, and statesmanship. He claimed that Koffa’s steadfastness during this period, and his expressed willingness to “make the ultimate sacrifice” in defense of Liberia’s democratic values and constitutional framework, are acts of patriotism that deserve recognition. “
In times like these, true leadership is defined not by personal ambition, but by one’s readiness to place country above self,” Cummings asserted. The ANC Strongman has squarely placed the implementation or enforcement of the Court’s ruling on President Joseph Boakai, urging the President to fully uphold and enforce the Supreme Court’s ruling without delay. Cummings said that Boakai must demonstrate respect for the rule of law and the authority of our courts, warning that anything less would undermine public confidence in the governance of our nation. He concluded, “
Liberia’s progress depends on the integrity of our institutions and the moral courage of our leaders. Let us each do our part in protecting our democracy and securing a better future for generations to come.”
