By Ben TC Brooks

River Gee County – [June 22, 2025] – The Association of River Gee Youth (ARGY) has welcomed a new leadership following the election of an executive members at its annual general assembly, which took place on Saturday, June 21, 2025, held at the Fish-Town-City Hall.

The elections drew participation from youth across all 10 administrative districts of River Gee, showcasing a strong spirit of democracy, unity, and hope for the future.

In order to ensure that the election is transparent and fair, it was overseen by an independent electoral committee that facilitated a high level of voter participation.

After hours of enthusiastic debates, the youth chose candidates committed to empowering their peers and fostering development in River Gee County.

Among them, 33-year-old Prince Natu Weadatu, a youth advocate and community development leader of River Gee was elected president for the County youth association and expressed his gratitude to members for their confidence in him.

“I am privileged to assume this role as president and pledge to invest my energy and time into uplifting our noble youth and championing our collective interests,” Weadatu stated in an interview shortly after the election and during his acceptance speech.

He stressed the urgent need for job creation, enhanced educational access, and health initiatives tailored to meet the needs of the youth in River Gee.

Joining Weadatu on the newly elected team are Vice President Francis Badio, Secretary-General, Prince Prince K. Banya and Treasurer, Miss. Hannah P. Hinneh. Additionally, Richmond Nagbe was elected Assistant Secretary, while Siassay Kuo takes on the role of Financial Secretary, respectively.

These new officials replace Sackor Toe, a public health professional who led the youth activities for the past two years with passion and respect and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in neighboring Sierra Leone.

However, it is strongly believed by many of their peers that each member of the newly elected team brings diverse experiences from various backgrounds, positioning the association to effectively address the array of challenges faced by the youth in the county.

Their administration has set forth specific priorities for their two-year term, focusing on three main areas: Youth Empowerment, Education and Advocacy, and Health Initiatives.

As the newly elected officials prepare to take office after induction, they are calling for unity and active involvement from all youth in River Gee County.

“We cannot achieve our goals alone. It is essential for every young person in River Gee to engage in these initiatives,” emphasized President-elect, Weadatu.

The Association of River Gee Youth looks forward to a vibrant and impactful tenure that aims to lay the groundwork for a more inclusive and empowered generation, ready to tackle the challenges of the county youthful generation.
