BCTC Policy Review Meeting Held Ahead of 2025/2026 Semester Opening

Bong County, Liberia – A major policy review meeting has been convened by the administration of Bong County Technical College (BCTC) in preparation for the opening of the 2025/2026 first academic semester.

The meeting, which is being held on the college’s campus, has been attended by senior administrators, vice presidents, and departmental heads. Over 20 newly drafted institutional policies are being reviewed, with the aim of enhancing governance and operational standards at the institution.

According to the Vice President for Administration, James K. Saybay, the policies were initially developed by the Policy Review Committee (PRC), which was established last year under the leadership of Professor Mogana Flomo Sr. The committee was tasked with ensuring an inclusive and comprehensive policy development process.

The drafts, which have undergone a preliminary review and refinement by the committee, are now being circulated for feedback from key administrative stakeholders. Once finalized, the consolidated policy document will be submitted to the college’s Board of Directors for approval.

The significance of full participation from departmental heads has been emphasized by Saybay, who noted that the policies are intended to govern all aspects of BCTC’s operations and will be binding on both staff and administration.

In a formal statement, BCTC President Dr. Alfredson Taikerweyah reaffirmed that the policy review initiative is grounded in the Act establishing the college and is aligned with the Constitution of Liberia. The reviewed policies, he stated, will serve as the administrative laws of the institution, guiding decision-making, disciplinary procedures, and institutional governance.

The review process was described by Dr. Taikerweyah as a foundational step toward the institution’s sustainability, with the expectation that future administrations will continue to build upon the work currently being done.

The meeting is expected to conclude with the submission of a consolidated policy document to the Board of Directors ahead of the semester’s official commencement.
