Bility Warns VP Koung to Stay Out of Nimba By-Election

Monrovia – Musa Hassan Bility, political leader of the Movement for Citizens Change (CMC) and Representative of Nimba Electoral District #7, has issued a stern warning to Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, urging him to remain neutral in the upcoming Nimba County senatorial by-election.

In a video circulating on social media, Bility accused Koung of supporting Representative Samuel Kogar of Nimba District #5, a candidate in the by-election. He warned that any continued interference from the Vice President would be met with strong resistance.

“We respect you as our Vice President,” Bility said. “We want to keep you elevated at that level. But if you try to support Samuel Kogar and push our people to vote for him, believe me, we will match you war for war.”

Bility’s remarks reflect growing concerns among some local leaders who believe Koung’s alleged involvement in the by-election could disrupt the county’s political stability. He argued that the Vice President’s position should remain above local political battles and that his intervention could undermine a fair electoral process.

“This is a wrong notion that a senator’s victory impacts the Vice President’s position. Whether Kogar wins or not, it has no bearing on your position. You should not be involved in this election,” Bility declared, insisting that Koung allow the people of Nimba to decide without interference.

The CMC leader’s warning comes as political tensions heighten ahead of the by-election, with many urging the Vice President to focus on his national duties instead of engaging in local contests. Bility emphasized that any attempt to influence the election would provoke a direct response from his political movement.

“Whoever is advising you to become Kogar’s campaign manager, stop it. If you come after our candidate, we will come after you,” he said, signaling a readiness to confront the Vice President if necessary.
