President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has accepted the resignation of the chairman of the Office of the Ombudsman, Cllr. Finley Y. Karngar, according to a statement issued Tuesday by the Executive Mansion.
The presidency said Karngar’s resignation takes immediate effect, though no reason for the decision was disclosed in the brief announcement.
In the statement, President Boakai expressed appreciation to Karngar for his service to the Republic of Liberia and for his role in advancing the work of the Ombudsman’s office.
The president commended Karngar for his “dedication and commitment to public service” and acknowledged his contributions toward promoting ethical standards in government.
The Office of the Ombudsman (Liberia) is one of Liberia’s key integrity institutions responsible for enforcing the Code of Conduct for public officials and investigating ethical breaches within the public sector.
President Boakai also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening integrity institutions and promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct across all levels of public service.
It was not immediately clear who would assume leadership of the Ombudsman’s office following Karngar’s departure.
