The Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs has dismissed three employees and reinstated one following an investigation into payroll padding under the Supplementary Payroll scheme by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).
The investigation, which included interviews, statements, and financial record analysis, led to the dismissal of three officials.
Those dismissed officials include, Mr. Lamine Sharpe, Director of Budget/Finance, Atty. Harry B. Sando, Financial Comptroller, and Mr. Mohammed S. Kromah, Assistant Minister for Human Resources.
These individuals were found to have violated government regulations, resulting in the misappropriation of public funds.
However, after a comprehensive review the LACC, Mr. James Y. Tolker, Deputy Financial Controller, was cleared of any wrongdoing and has been reinstated to his position.
A statement from the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs is quoted as saying these actions highlight the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to ethical governance and accountability, reinforcing its dedication to safeguarding public resources.
The statement further that, in response to the findings, additional reforms are being put in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs said it remains focused on maintaining public trust and ensuring the responsible management of Liberia’s financial resources.
