“Boakai Failed Us, Weah Enriched Himself Overnight” Senator Duncan Unleashes on Liberia’s Leaders

By Preston Slami Panyonnoh

Monrovia, Liberia – In a fiery outburst that has sent shockwaves across Liberia’s political landscape, Sinoe County Senator Crayton Oldman Duncan has openly criticized both President Joseph Nyumah Boakai and former President George Manneh Weah, accusing them of failing the Liberian people while the nation’s resources continue to be plundered by foreign interests.

Speaking candidly, Senator Duncan said he deeply regretted leaving the Unity Party for the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), questioning the legacy of both political giants.

We voted for Boakai, what did he do? That’s the kind of question you ask,” Duncan declared. “How disappointed it was for me to leave the Unity Party to join the CDC.”

Duncan noted that while former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and the Unity Party held power for 12 years, ordinary Liberians were left struggling. He then sharply turned his criticism toward ex-President George Weah, accusing him of enriching himself overnight while Liberians suffer.

Weah na, that man is from Gibraltar, Clara Town. He understands the struggle, the suffering. But in less than a year, he built forty-four condominiums for himself. Yet, many of you are still happy to support him for the Presidency in 2029,” Duncan blasted.

The Senator didn’t spare President Boakai either, accusing him of weakness in the face of foreign exploitation.

For Joseph Nyumah Boakai, we said ‘ooo the man is old, let’s put him there, he will make hard decisions.’ But he’s sitting there while the white man is still stealing our resources,” Duncan lamented.

Citing Bea Mountain, one of Liberia’s largest mining companies, Duncan revealed that last year alone the company allegedly extracted over $800 million worth of gold—a figure equivalent to Liberia’s entire national budget.

“Every three cents on a dollar, Bea Mountain took $800 million worth of gold from Liberia last year. And we are here fighting every day for an $800 million budget,” he stated, describing the situation as a national disgrace.

The Senator’s bombshell remarks have left both ruling and opposition circles rattled, as Liberians continue to debate the future of leadership in the country ahead of 2029.
