Boakai Kicks Off 12,800-Metric-Ton Fuel Tank Construction at LPRC

The Government of Liberia through Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has initiated a significant development for Liberia’s petroleum sector by breaking ground at the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) for the construction of a 12,800 metric ton gasoline tank. Alongside this, a modern petroleum testing laboratory will also be established.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, President Boakai hailed the project as a major milestone for Liberia’s petroleum industry. He emphasized the importance of this development in enhancing the country’s infrastructure and its potential to transform the energy sector.

President Boakai took the opportunity to reaffirm his administration’s dedication to infrastructure development. He assured the audience that his government remains committed to serving the people of Liberia with transparency and accountability.

The President also highlighted that such infrastructure projects are vital for the long-term economic stability of the nation. By increasing petroleum storage capacity and enhancing product standards, the country can better manage its resources and ensure a steady supply of fuel.

On his part, the Managing Director of LPRC, Mr. Amos Tweh, provided further insight into the project’s impact. He explained that the new gasoline tank, once completed, will significantly boost storage capacities and improve product importation processes.

Mr. Tweh emphasized that this expansion will help address any potential shortages of petroleum products in the Liberian market. The increased storage will provide a buffer against supply chain disruptions, ensuring consistent availability of fuel.

Regarding the modern petroleum testing laboratory, Tweh noted its critical role in maintaining the quality of petroleum products in Liberia. The laboratory will be equipped with the latest technology to test and set standards for the products.

The establishment of the laboratory represents a step forward in ensuring that all petroleum products meet international quality standards before reaching the market.

This will help protect consumers and maintain the integrity of Liberia’s petroleum industry.

Overall, the dual initiative of constructing a new gasoline tank and a state-of-the-art testing lab is expected to strengthen Liberia’s energy infrastructure. It marks a forward-looking approach to addressing the country’s future energy needs.

The project underscores the Liberian government’s focus on improving critical infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and ensuring the sustainability of the nation’s energy resources.
