President Joseph Boakai of Liberia recently met with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana at the Jubilee House in Accra to discuss key issues related to subregional security and strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.
The meeting, which took place on December 29, 2024, focused on enhancing collaboration to address regional security concerns and promote mutual growth.
According to a press release by the Mansion on Sunday, the discussions highlighted the importance of joint efforts to tackle security challenges and the need to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and development. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing peace, stability, and economic prosperity across the West African sub-region.
President Boakai took the opportunity to congratulate President Akufo-Addo on his remarkable leadership of Ghana, acknowledging his contributions to the country’s development and his enduring support for Liberia.
He also commended Ghana for its successful recent election, which reflected its strong democratic values.
In return, President Akufo-Addo expressed gratitude for President Boakai’s visit, emphasizing Ghana’s continued support for Liberia’s development.
Both leaders discussed the vital role of regional unity, stressing the importance of further strengthening the longstanding relations between Liberia and Ghana to benefit their citizens and the wider ECOWAS community.
This meeting stresses the shared vision of both countries in advancing regional cooperation and ensuring a secure and prosperous West Africa. President Boakai is also scheduled to meet with Ghana’s incoming President, John Dramani Mahama, on December 30, 2024, as part of his ongoing diplomatic efforts to solidify Liberia’s international partnerships.
