Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai has reiterated his administration’s dedication to forging stronger international partnerships, emphasizing trade, investment, and youth empowerment as cornerstones of Liberia’s sustainable development agenda.
During a ceremony at the Executive Mansion on November 29, 2024, President Boakai received Letters of Credence from the newly accredited ambassadors of Israel, Colombia, Switzerland, and Mauritania. These diplomatic appointments signal their countries’ readiness to deepen economic and political ties with Liberia.
President Boakai highlighted Liberia’s longstanding relationship with Israel, noting its historic role in the nation’s development, including constructing the Executive Mansion. “Liberia has made significant progress, and with the continued support of our international partners, we can build a future where our nation stands among the world’s developed economies,” he stated.
Israel’s Ambassador, Roey Gilad, reaffirmed his Government’s dedication to enhancing bilateral relations. He identified technology transfer, agriculture, and trade as critical avenues for collaboration to advance Liberia’s development goals.
Colombian Ambassador Daniel Graces Carabali also stressed the importance of renewing trade agreements and fostering cultural exchanges. Switzerland’s Ambassador Dominique Michel Favre offered financial systems and infrastructure expertise to support economic stability. At the same time, Mauritania’s Ambassador Mohamed Abdellahi Khattra underscored trade and education as key areas of mutual benefit.
President Boakai placed particular emphasis on youth empowerment, advocating for initiatives such as exchange programs, scholarships, and vocational training. “Our efforts today are not just for this generation but for those who will lead tomorrow. We must ensure that the youth are equipped with the tools and knowledge to shape Liberia’s future,” he said.
The ambassadors expressed a shared commitment to collaborating with Liberia on joint agriculture, renewable energy, and trade initiatives to foster sustainable growth. Their pledges align with the Boakai administration’s broader strategy to attract foreign direct investment and position Liberia as a hub for innovation and international cooperation.
