Boakai Urges Legislature to Prioritize National Development amid Internal Turmoil

President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has called on the National Legislature and his cabinet members to focus on initiatives that will create jobs and improve the livelihoods of all Liberians.

During a statement made on October 20, 2024, following his return from the FAO-World Food Forum Summit, Boakai emphasized the need for unity and commitment to peace and stability to foster Liberia’s development under a new governance framework.

He asserted that the Legislature, as the first branch of government, must lead the way in national development and demonstrate seriousness in their responsibilities.

“The Legislature must take their responsibilities seriously and get to work in the interest of the whole country,” Boakai declared.

While in Rome, Boakai held a productive meeting with the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), where both sides agreed to enhance cooperation on Liberia’s agricultural development plan, titled “Liberians Feed Yourselves.”

Additionally, the president engaged with the head of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and various Italian officials and investors, seeking assistance and investment opportunities for Liberia.

Boakai also appealed to the Liberian media to fulfill its role as a societal watchdog, emphasizing the importance of truth and integrity in reporting.

He noted that the media plays a crucial role in shaping perceptions
