In fulfilment of promise made during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA), the Government of Liberia has launched the 10,000 Youth Information Communication Technology (ICT) Program.
The project promised by President Joseph Boakai has come to actualization as the Liberian Leader officially led its launch held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the Ministerial Complex in Gongo Town.
In an era where digitalization reigns supreme, Liberia stands at a pivotal moment in its history with the implementation of this project.
It illustrates a vision to embrace change and foster progress with the nation embarking upon a bold initiative which is a Digital Transformation Project.
This visionary endeavor seeks to catapult Liberia into the forefront of the global digital economy, marking a significant step towards prosperity and relevance in the 21st century.
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, in a stirring address, highlighted the imperative of this transformation, emphasizing its role as a catalyst for Liberia’s future prosperity.
The Digital Transformation initiative, integrated into various development sectors and government agendas, aims to harness the power of digital innovation for the betterment of the nation and its people.
The opportunities presented by digital transformation are vast and promising. From improving access to education and healthcare to fostering entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, digital technologies offer a unique pathway for Liberia to overcome traditional barriers to development.
A key aspect of the initiative is the emphasis on digital skills training. The government, through partnerships with various ministries and agencies, aims to train 10,000 young Liberians in a range of digital skills within a short timeframe.
This ambitious endeavor not only equips the youth with essential skills but also lays the foundation for a digitally empowered workforce.
President Boakai also underscored the importance of collaboration among government stakeholders, the business community to accelerate the adoption of digital payments.
“This move towards digital transactions promises efficiency, speed, and transparency in the financial sector, further driving the nation towards its digital aspirations” President Boakai noted.
As the nationwide Project takes flight, Liberia envisions a future characterized by innovation, inclusivity, and prosperity.
By embracing digitalization today, the nation paves the way for a brighter tomorrow, where its citizens can compete and collaborate on the global stage with confidence and capability.
With the launch of the National Digital Transformation Project, Liberia takes this step towards a modern and digitized society.
As the Registration Page for the Digital Skills Training opens, it symbolizes not just enrollment, but a collective stride towards a future where Liberia thrives in the digital age.
In the words of President Joseph Boakai “Think Liberia, Love Liberia, and Build Liberia with digital transformation as our guiding light, the journey towards progress begins”.
