Bomi County Administration Applauds Martin K. N. Kollie Foundation for Modern Multipurpose Bus Stop

By: Archie Boan

The Bomi County Administration has reiterated its commitment to welcoming development partners and investors as officials joined residents to mark the official turnover of a modern multipurpose bus stop in Klay District, a project seen as a symbol of growing collaboration between civic organizations and local authorities.

Speaking during the ceremony held on February 13, 2026, County Administrator Hon. Alphonse Sherman emphasized the administration’s willingness to support initiatives that drive progress and improve living conditions for citizens.

“The Bomi County Administration arms are open to anyone who wants to bring development to Bomi County,” Sherman declared, underscoring what he described as an open-door policy aimed at encouraging meaningful investment and community-centered projects.

The modern facility was constructed through a partnership between the Martin K. N. Kollie Foundation and the People’s Power Movement, and has quickly become a focal point of discussion among residents and local leaders for its modern design and multifunctional purpose.

Unlike traditional transit shelters, the structure is equipped with high-speed internet access, a flat-screen television, DSTV connection, and seating capacity designed to accommodate commuters and community members alike. The project also aims to provide a comfortable and inclusive public space that can support both transportation needs and social engagement.

Local officials described the initiative as an example of how collaboration between civic groups and local governance can deliver tangible improvements to communities, particularly in areas that have historically experienced limited infrastructure development.

During his remarks, Administrator Sherman expressed appreciation to the Martin Kollie Foundation for selecting Bomi County as the site of the project, noting that such investments contribute meaningfully to the county’s development agenda.

“We are thrilled to have this modern bus stop,” Sherman said, adding that the project demonstrates how partnerships can produce practical and lasting benefits for residents.

The County Administrator also addressed public speculation surrounding the allocation of land for the project. He dismissed claims that the administration had initially refused to provide space, explaining that any concerns that emerged during planning were resolved amicably.

“We want to assure the public that any issues that arose during the process were amicably settled, and we are pleased to have this facility in Klay District,” he stated.

Sherman commended residents of Klay Town for their enthusiasm and support throughout the project’s implementation, stressing that long-term success will depend heavily on community stewardship.

“Maintenance is key, and we encourage the community to work together to ensure that this bus stop remains a source of pride for years to come,” he urged.

Observers noted that the emphasis on maintenance reflects a broader challenge facing infrastructure projects across Liberia, where sustainability and community ownership are often critical to long-term functionality.

The turnover ceremony was attended by officials from the Bomi County Administration, representatives of the Martin K. N. Kollie Foundation, members of the People’s Power Movement, and citizens from across the district.
