Buchanan, Liberia – In a shocking discovery late Friday night, security personnel at the ArcelorMittal (AML) entry point in Buchanan Port uncovered a dead body aboard a train wagon used for transporting iron ore out of Liberia. The deceased is believed to be a man in his 30s.
The grim discovery was made during a routine inspection at around 5:45 PM on May 24. The train, marked 9462, had traveled from Yekepa in Nimba County to Buchanan’s AML port, carrying loads of iron ore.
According to sources within the Port of Buchanan, the body was found in the sixth wagon during the offloading process at a site known as Tail Pulley. This location is typically where the ore buckets are emptied from the train wagons.
As of now, ArcelorMittal has not released an official statement regarding the incident. However, Winston Daryou, the company’s Communication Manager, assured Front Page Africa that an official statement will be issued soon.
This incident has raised serious security and safety concerns, prompting an urgent need for answers about how the body ended up in the train and whether foul play is involved. Authorities are expected to launch a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding this disturbing find.
