In a move that has sparked widespread surprise and controversy among Unity Partisans, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has appointed Antoinette M. Wolo as the Chief of Protocol for the Republic of Liberia, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Wolo is reportedly the mother of a child belonging to the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Sylvester Grigsby who is very close to the president, adding a sensational twist to the appointment.
In a press release issued today, President Boakai nominated additional members to key government positions, specifically impacting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA).
The appointments are Antoinette M. Wolo, Chief of Protocol, Republic of Liberia, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The other appointment include. Jonathan C. Enders as Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services at the Liberia Airport Authority.
The appointment of Antoinette M. Wolo is being met with considerable surprise and scrutiny.
Insiders of the Unity Party government have started to express their frustrations over Wolo’s appointment, emphasizing on nepotism outside of the party’s political ideology.
Insiders of the Foreign Ministry and Executive Mansion informed Verity News that Madam Wolo is currently in relationship with the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Sylvester Greby.
This has led to major concers- as to whether President Boakai is actual aware of such appointment.
It has also raised questions about the integrity and motivations behind her nomination.
The insiders are also concern about Minister Grisby influence that is affecting the governance of the Up led administration.
They argue that this appointment smacks of nepotism and favoritism, undermining the principles of meritocracy and transparency that the Boakai administration has pledged to uphold.
“This move by President Boakai is deeply troubling and raises serious ethical concerns,” said a political analyst who preferred to remain unnamed.
“The Liberian people deserve to know that government appointments are based on qualifications and merit, not personal relationships or favoritism.”
Verity is informed that some UP Partisans are angry about the situation thus calling for a thorough investigation into the appointment process.
They argue that the relationship between Wolo and Minister Gresby could potentially influence her duties and compromise her ability to serve impartially.
“The appointment of Antoinette Wolo raises red flags about potential conflicts of interest,” said Mary Johnson, a spokesperson for a prominent watchdog group. “We demand transparency and accountability in this process to ensure that public office is not being used for personal gain.”
This controversy comes at a time when the Boakai administration is under intense scrutiny for its handling of various governance issues.
