C.B. Dunbar Hospital Commissions US$35K Staff Transport Bus

Gbarnga, Bong County – The administration of C.B. Dunbar Hospital has commissioned a new US$35,000 transportation bus aimed at improving staff movement and strengthening the hospital’s operations. The commissioning ceremony, held over the weekend on the hospital grounds, brought together hospital administrators, staff, patients, and local county authorities.

Speaking during the event, the hospital’s acting medical director, Dr. Moses Beayn, praised Bong County authorities for facilitating the procurement of the bus. He explained that the purchase was made possible through funds allotted to the hospital in the 2025 national budget, an achievement he credited to the efforts of the county’s legislative caucus and local administration.

Dr. Beayn, while expressing gratitude, also highlighted several challenges hindering the smooth operation of the facility. Chief among them, he said, is the lack of stable electricity. The hospital relies heavily on the Jungle Energy Power (JEP) grid, which he described as inconsistent. Although the facility operates two standby generators, Dr. Beayn disclosed that inadequate fuel supply and poor machine condition have limited their effectiveness. He appealed to Senator Prince Moye and other county authorities for additional support in resolving these issues.

For his part, Senator Prince Moye commended the hospital administration for what he described as transparent and efficient use of the funds provided for the vehicle. He reaffirmed the commitment of the county caucus and administration to supporting development across all sectors without political interference. Moye stressed that the era of lawmakers influencing daily operations of hospitals, schools, and other public institutions “is over.” He urged the administration to maintain the vehicle properly and use it strictly for official purposes.

Also speaking was the County Health Team Officer, Dr. Daanue Paye Zwugogbae, who expressed satisfaction with the improvements made at C.B. Dunbar Hospital in recent years. He encouraged the hospital’s leadership to ensure the new bus is responsibly managed and used solely for its intended purpose, cautioning staff against personal use of the vehicle.

The commissioning of the bus is expected to ease transportation challenges for hospital staff and enhance the facility’s overall service delivery.
