Calm Restored as Superintendent Zahnwea Orders Immediate Action on Norbor Road

ITI, Rivercess County – Peace has returned to Norbor after Rivercess County Superintendent Hon. Byron W. Zahnwea stepped in to resolve a tense standoff between residents and the Bea Mountain/GLM exploration team.

Villagers from Solo, Gbargbo, and Sarfee had blocked access to the company’s exploration sites early Tuesday, demanding urgent repairs to the 20-kilometer road linking ITI to their communities. The stretch had become nearly impassable, with Solo’s town center churned into thick mud by heavy company equipment.

Superintendent Zahnwea, accompanied by County Administrative Officer Hon. Dennis G. Seeboe and other staffers, made a rapid fact-finding visit. After inspecting the damage, he called Bea Mountain management directly, instructing them to begin emergency repairs before a full rehabilitation planned for the dry season.

This situation demands immediate attention,” Zahnwea said, emphasizing that residents must be able to move freely.

The superintendent commended villagers for remaining peaceful and urged them to continue working through local authorities before staging protests. “Your calm shows responsibility,” he told the crowd.

Community leaders welcomed the swift response but said they will closely monitor the company’s follow-through in the days ahead.
