The Catholic Church in Liberia has confirmed and announced the passing of two catholic priests of the St. Charles Lwanga Pre-Major Seminary in Pipeline and the St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Gardnersville under the Archdiocese of Monrovia.
According to two separate statements issued, the Church described the deceased priests, Rev. Father Alphonsus B. Mombo, 57, and Rev. Father Roland G. Biah, 53, as devoted, compassionate, and faithful servants of God’s people. The Vicar General, Very Reverend Ambrose Dayouga Kroma who signed the statements, has asked all religious and faithful priests to remember the deceased priests in their rosary prayers.
Though the Church did not say the speciic cause of death, information gathered from inside church and family sources said Reverend Father Mombo and Reverend Biah had gone to sympathize and offer spiritual support to a bereaved family in Buchanan, Grand Bassa county when the incident occured.
The community of catholic faithful across Liberia remains in disbelief and grief.
