CBL to Launch “Clean Note Campaign” Friday Under the Theme: “Our Money, Our Pride”

Monrovia, Liberia ~ The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) will officially launch its nationwide Clean Note Campaign this Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Rally Time Market in Monrovia. The initiative, themed “Our Money, Our Pride: Handle it with Care,” aims to raise public awareness on the importance of properly handling the Liberian dollar.

The campaign is part of CBL’s ongoing efforts to extend the lifespan of Liberian banknotes, reduce the high cost of printing and replacing damaged currency, and foster a greater sense of national pride in the country’s monetary system.

The launch will begin with a vibrant float parade through the principal streets of Monrovia, drawing attention to the campaign’s message. The public program that follows will bring together key stakeholders, including representatives from all nine commercial banks, the Liberian Marketing Association, Liberia Business Association, the National Association of Foreign Exchange Bureaus, street vendors, the motorcyclists union, and other grassroots organizations.

We are calling on the public to join this important initiative,” Central Bank management stated. “Keeping our money clean is not just about aesthetics ~ it’s about protecting our economy, ensuring efficiency, and promoting national dignity.”

The Clean Note Campaign is expected to engage communities across the country in promoting best practices for currency handling and instill a collective sense of responsibility in safeguarding the integrity of Liberia’s currency.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend Friday’s launch and be part of what the CBL describes as “a national movement to preserve the value and appearance of our money.”
