CDC Blasts Deputy Speaker Fallah for “Disloyalty”

The National Executive Committee of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has strongly condemned Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah and other CDC lawmakers for what they describe as acts of disloyalty and disobedience.

In a statement released today, CDC Chairman Janga Augustus Kowo accused Fallah and his associates of defying the directives of the party and President George Manneh Weah, particularly in their opposition to Speaker J. Fonati Koffa.

Kowo asserted that these actions were influenced by the Joseph Boakai government and aimed to destabilize the CDC, stating, “These schemes will fail, and the CDC will emerge stronger after all this.”

He emphasized that the situation is being closely monitored and highlighted broader concerns regarding the threats to Liberian democracy posed by an overbearing executive interfering with the functions of the Legislative Branch.

He cited evidence of alleged undemocratic practices by the Unity Party government, including disrespect for Supreme Court rulings, human rights violations, arbitrary dismissals of civil servants, and mistreatment of Liberian diplomats during the CDC’s time in power.

Kowo also addressed the limitations of political parties over their elected members in the National Legislature, advocating for a national conversation on strengthening party authority in this context.

He concluded by calling for calm among CDC partisans as the party consults with stakeholders to determine its next steps in response to the situation.
