Congress for Democratic Change (CDC)Monrovia/Liberia
Dear Sirs:
Letter of Resignation
After a youthful service in active and vocal students and youth leadership and advocacies in my county-Bong, a group of eminent and elderly believers in the political leader of the CDC, H.E. George Weah conferred with me in 2012 after an active role played in the 2011 elections, to take on leadership role in the Congress for Democratic (CDC).
With the prospect of a party that didn’t have a record of discrimination, a party driven by majority youths of the country, a party built on advocacies and ‘masses interest’, I, as a young progressive leader, thought to myself and after series of consultations, decided to take on leadership role in the party.
Posterity being our judge, we’ve proven loyalty, commitment, patriotism, and belief in party principles and disciplines even at the expense of our personal interest and future. The records will prove of our commitment to party disciplines.
We have served the party from PRO to Assisting Secretary, Secretary General, acting chair and Chairman proper. In all these years from opposition to ruling and now back to opposition, we’ve never relented on the performance of our roles in every capacities we’ve been entrusted to. We have committed all and every bit of our youthful life and professional existence to this party in the interest of the Liberian people.
We’ve endured every form of rejection, marginalization, humiliation, bully, mockery and every other form of political neglect. Yet we campaigned in the absence of direct resources and in the midst of internal party marginalization and fought to deliver Bong County-though on a marginal advantage.
Hon. Chair/Acting Chair, I am pleased at this juncture to extend my thanks and appreciation to former Chairman, Mulbah K. Morlu, jr. and the entire NEC for all the confidences reposed in me to serve the different capacities in the CDC. I AM HUMBLED!
As we begin a new page in our sojourn, I would like to use this medium to officially resign my position as Chairperson for the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) and by extension, any position in the Coalition for Democratic Change. This decision is as a result of my quest to focus on my professional life and provide an opportunity for a new breed of leadership in the county.
I believe that any future political debate of our country will not be based on popularity, money, anger, hate, or sympathy, but a political conglomeration that provides a scientific solution to the problems faced by Liberians and statistical data that answers the WHAT, HOW and WHEN these problems will be resolved.
By this, I am taking my leave as Chairperson and subsequently a partisan to focus on a professional life and an independent survey of a political institution and or individual that addresses these for the forward match of our dear country.
With gratitude for your confidence, I humbly resign.
Thanks.
Yours,
Sayblee Menebai Varyao Weyea
Chair, CDC-Bong
