The Chairman of the ruling Unity Party (UP), Rev. Luther Tarpeh, has declared that as long as he remains at the helm of the party’s leadership, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) will never return to power in Liberia.
Rev. Tarpeh made the bold statement during an interview on OK conversation in Monrovia, where he spoke confidently about the party’s strength, integrity, and vision under President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s leadership.
“As long as I remain Chairman of the Unity Party, CDC will never win elections in Liberia. In fact, they are really good in opposition,” Rev. Tarpeh said, drawing loud applause from the crowd.
He announced that December 6, 2025, will mark what he termed “the day of war against rent payment,” signifying the party’s plan to end its long dependence on rented facilities.
“December 6, 2025, is the day we stop paying money to rent properties for party use,” he declared. “Under President Boakai, nobody will steal government money to build a party headquarters.”
According to Rev. Tarpeh, the Unity Party’s vision is built on transparency, accountability, and national service not corruption or personal enrichment.
He further boasted that the Unity Party is home to Liberia’s “best brains and finest intellectuals,” asserting that the ruling party sets the pace for others to follow.
“We have the best brains in this country the finest intellectuals. The Unity Party has them. We are not copying from the CDC; the CDC is copying from us,” he emphasized.
Rev. Tarpeh’s remarks come at a time when political discourse between the ruling Unity Party and the opposition CDC continues to intensify, with both sides preparing early for the next general and presidential elections.
Observers say his comments underscore the UP’s growing confidence as it seeks to consolidate its political base and deliver on President Boakai’s development agenda.
