Central Bank of Liberia Empowers Grand Kru Residents with Financial Literacy Training

By Patrick Teah, Jr.

The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) has rolled out a Financial Literacy and Education Program in Grand Kru County, benefiting over 200 residents and equipping them with essential skills for personal and community economic growth.

The launch, held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Barclayville City Hall, brought together CBL officials, local government representatives, business leaders, and community members to mark the beginning of the initiative.

As part of the program, more than fifteen participants were trained and certified as Financial Literacy Ambassadors. These ambassadors will serve as resource persons, extending financial education efforts to communities across the county.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nathaniel Toe of the Central Bank highlighted the campaign’s goal of equipping Liberians with practical knowledge in financial planning, budgeting, and money management to foster economic empowerment.

“Strategic planning and careful budgeting are vital tools for achieving financial stability and prosperity. We encourage entrepreneurs, public sector workers, and the general public to adopt sound financial practices for both personal growth and community development,” Mr. Toe said.

He urged participants to apply the skills they had learned and to share the knowledge with others who could not attend.

He reaffirmed the Central Bank’s commitment to strengthening financial literacy nationwide as a foundation for sustainable economic growth.

Participants expressed gratitude for the program, noting that the insights gained would significantly improve their financial decision-making. Many also praised the Government of Liberia, through the Central Bank, for implementing initiatives that equip citizens with the skills necessary for better financial management and overall well-being.
