Centrism Movement Throws Weight Behind Boakai’s National Unity Agenda

MONROVIA – In a significant political boost for the Unity Party-led government, the Liberia Political Centrism Movement (LPCM) has formally endorsed President Joseph N. Boakai, praising his leadership style, his push for national unity, and his commitment to development-driven governance.

Leading a high-powered delegation to the Executive Mansion, LPCM Leader Cllr. Kanio Bai Gbala said the group’s decision to back President Boakai followed months of careful assessment of the administration’s approach to national healing and inclusive leadership.

Gbala described the LPCM as a diverse coalition of professionals from across Liberia’s political spectrum including former members of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) and others with no political alignment united by a shared belief in constructive, country-first politics.

He stressed that Liberia’s politics must evolve beyond hostility and division, emphasizing that responsible opposition should focus on collaboration, objectivity, and national interest rather than confrontation.

“Our endorsement today reflects our confidence in the President’s efforts to unite Liberians and set the country on a path of sustained progress,” Gbala said. “We believe in mature politics, politics that prioritizes Liberia above all else.”

Other members of the delegation echoed his remarks, applauding the government’s early achievements and calling for collective action to secure meaningful national transformation.

President Boakai welcomed the endorsement and expressed appreciation for the group’s confidence in his leadership. He reaffirmed his commitment to governing beyond partisanship and championing unity as a cornerstone of national advancement.

“I remain focused on moving Liberia forward,” President Boakai told the delegation, urging the young professionals to continue promoting cooperation and development-oriented engagement.

The meeting concluded with the LPCM presenting the President with a branded T-shirt and cap symbols of their solidarity which he accepted with gratitude.

The endorsement is seen by political observers as a notable sign of shifting alliances and a growing appetite for consensus-driven governance in Liberia.
