ITI Bridge Collapses Two Weeks After Reopening

By: Methuselah Gaye

December 30, 2024 — The newly reopened Cestos River Bridge in ITI, Rivercess County, collapsed this morning, just two weeks after it was reopened to the public.

The incident occurred early Monday, December 30, when a Load Bed carrying an excavator broke into the bridge, causing a catastrophic failure.

The Cestos River Bridge, which had been temporarily closed for repairs since November 28, 2024, was reopened on December 16 following extensive work by the Ministry of Public Infrastructure.

The collapse marks a devastating blow to the region’s transportation network, leaving local residents concerned about the impact on daily commuting and logistics.

The bridge links RiverCess to Sinoe County and other parts of the Southeast.
