Monrovia, Liberia –The Liberia National Police (LNP) has formally charged and forwarded to Court a 67-year-old church mother and classroom teacher for allegedly assaulting an officer while he was performing official duties.
According to an official statement released by LNP spokesperson Cecelia G. Clarke, Mrs. Klady A. Paul was involved in a physical altercation with Patrolman Koilous N. Larmin on the morning of Tuesday, August 12, at approximately 7:15 A.M. The incident occurred at the busy 12th Street intersection in Sinkor, Monrovia.
Police say Mrs. Paul approached the officer in a hostile manner, verbally confronted both him and other personnel on duty, and proceeded to assault Patrolman Larmin. She is also accused of damaging a government-issued police communication radio during the incident.
Following a full investigation, the LNP has charged Mrs. Paul under several provisions of the Penal Code of the Republic of Liberia:
Simple Assault – Chapter 14, Section 14.21(A)
Criminal Mischief – Chapter 15, Section 15.5
Disorderly Conduct – Chapter 17, Section 17.3
She has been turned over to the court for prosecution.
“The Liberia National Police has always upheld the principle of accountability,” the statement read. “But just as we hold our officers accountable, we are equally bound to protect them when they are unjustly attacked while serving the nation.”
Madam Clarke commended Patrolman Larmin for what she described as “resilience, professionalism, and restraint” during the incident. She said his conduct reflects the values and discipline expected of LNP officers.
The police emphasized a zero-tolerance stance against any form of assault or obstruction directed at law enforcement personnel.
“This case sends a clear message: the law will be enforced without fear or favor,” Clarke said.
