CIC Blames “Short-Sighted” Aides for Cummings’ Political Decline

By: Archie Boan

Popular Liberian musician Maurice Tosh Gayflor, widely known as CIC, has publicly criticized individuals within the inner circle of Alexander B. Cummings, accusing them of contributing to the politician’s declining political relevance.

In a strongly worded social media post, the artist alleged that those surrounding Cummings have consistently mishandled his public relations and engaged in actions that undermined his credibility over the years. CIC described the aides as “short-sighted,” blaming them for what he sees as a steady erosion of public trust in the former presidential contender.

CIC revealed that his first vote as a Liberian citizen was cast in favor of Cummings, underscoring his past support for the politician. He said his decision was influenced by a personal meeting during which Cummings outlined development plans that convinced him of his leadership potential.

According to the musician, he rejected financial inducements from other political parties to campaign for Cummings.

However, CIC claimed that his political stance came at a personal cost. He alleged that his association with Cummings led to him being labeled and “blacklisted,” negatively impacting his career in the entertainment industry.

Despite his criticisms, the artist maintained that Cummings remains a capable and detail-oriented leader with the qualities needed to govern Liberia. He argued, however, that the politician’s greatest challenge has been the people around him, accusing them of making unrealistic promises and escalating internal disputes into public controversies.

CIC further asserted that poor political strategy and ineffective public relations have diminished Cummings’ standing, transforming him from a formidable contender into what he described as a marginal political figure.

He suggested that for Cummings to regain political relevance ahead of future elections, there must be a comprehensive restructuring of his advisory team, public image, and overall campaign strategy.

The musician concluded by expressing disillusionment with political engagement, stating that his experience has discouraged him from participating in future campaigns and that he now prefers to remain outside the political arena.
