Citizens, Drivers Decry Poor Road Conditions in Bomi County, Call on Elected Officials to Take Urgent Action

Tubmanburg, Bomi County – Citizens and commercial drivers in Bomi County are voicing growing frustration over the deplorable condition of the main road connecting Montserrado County to Tubmanburg, the county’s capital.

According to residents, since Bomi County was established in 1984, the road has not seen any significant repair or reconstruction efforts. As a result, the deteriorating state of the road has severely hampered transportation, disrupted local trade, and impeded access to essential services.

The citizens are calling on their elected officials Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe, Representative Sam Jallah, Representative Obedia Varney, and Representative Mannah Bishop to take immediate action to address what they describe as a long-standing infrastructure crisis.

“The condition of this road is unacceptable. It’s affecting our businesses, our health, and our daily lives,” said one commercial driver. “We voted these people to represent our interests, not to enrich themselves while we suffer.”

Many residents echoed similar sentiments, stressing that Bomi County, despite its natural and economic potential, remains underdeveloped due to what they describe as neglect by government authorities. They warned that continued inaction could further isolate the region and undermine development efforts.

“Bomi is too rich a county to remain in this condition. Our leaders must stop pretending and start delivering,” Daniel Sonnie said. “We feel like we are being led into modern-day slavery. This must stop.”

The citizens are urging a collective effort among local and national leaders to rehabilitate the road network, which they believe is essential for enhancing mobility, boosting economic opportunities, and improving the overall quality of life in the county.
