Barclayville, Grand Kru County-As the nation anticipates the State of the Nation Address, citizens of Barclayville are calling on President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to place stronger emphasis on critical sectors including health, education, sanitation, agriculture, and the welfare of civil servants.
During a live interview today, several residents voiced concern that despite some progress in infrastructure, many key sectors remain underdeveloped.
They particularly blamed the Legislature for approving salary increases for lawmakers while ordinary civil servants continue to receive what they described as inadequate pay.
According to the citizens, the growing disparity between the earnings of lawmakers and low-income public workers has worsened living conditions for many families.
They called for salary adjustments for the less fortunate, especially teachers, healthcare workers, and other civil servants who form the backbone of public service delivery.
Residents further urged the President to use the SONA as an opportunity to outline concrete plans for improving sanitation, revitalizing agriculture, strengthening healthcare systems, and enhancing education nationwide.
They stressed that addressing these sectors is essential to achieving the better Liberia the people continue to hope for.
