Monrovia, Liberia – The Civil Law Court has dismissed the appeal filed by Hassan and Hussein Fadiga in a defamation case brought against them by former LDEA boss Col. Abraham Kromah.
The Civil Law Court Judge George Smith reaffirmed his May 6 verdict holding the Fadiga brothers liable for $1.5 million in damages, citing their failure to perfect their appeal under Chapter 24, Sections 24.1 and 24.2 of the Criminal Procedure Law.
The lawsuit stemmed from allegations made by the brothers that Kromah stole $200,000 and removed CCTV equipment during a raid on the home of convicted drug dealer George “Japan” Obi.
The former LDEA boss Kromah has welcomed the latest ruling by the Civil Law Court, while calling it a deterrent against character defamation.
Hassan Fadiga and Hussein Fadiga have since been adjudged liable in an action of damages for wrong in the tone of 1.5 million United States Dollars in connection to ex-boss lawsuit against them.
The Judge’s decision was as a result of a motion to dismiss the appeal file by the former LDEA boss legal team after the Fadiga brothers allegedly failed to perfect their appeal consistent with Chapter 24, Section 24. 1& 2 of the Criminal Procedure law of Liberia.
Judge Smith’s June 5, 2025 decision maintained that failure of the Fadiga brothers to perfect the appeal is a fit ground for dismissal.
