The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) has acknowledged the apparent victory of Hon. Kogar in the recent Nimba County by-election. In a statement issued on April 22, 2025, CMC cited credible data from its internal monitoring team that indicated Kogar, backed by the MDR and the Unity Party alliance, holds an unassailable lead. While awaiting the official results from the National Elections Commission (NEC), the party extended early congratulations to Kogar and the UP alliance, affirming their respect for the will of the people.
CMC expressed disappointment in the outcome but praised the voters of Nimba for participating peacefully and maturely in the democratic process. Despite the region’s challenges—including poverty and lack of infrastructure—the electorate opted to maintain the current political direction. CMC urged the UP-led alliance not to take this support for granted and called for real, tangible improvements in the lives of Nimba citizens.
Reflecting on its campaign, CMC emphasized the uphill battle it faced against powerful political coalitions, including those supported by prominent national figures. Nonetheless, the party remains optimistic, framing the campaign as a moral victory and vowing to continue its mission to transform Liberia. Hon. Musa Hassan Bility, CMC’s political leader, reiterated the party’s commitment to rebuilding the nation “brick by brick, community by community.”
