Gbarnga, Bong County – The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC)’s proposed bridge construction over the Jor River in Gbarnga may face delays, as the Bong County leadership has reportedly requested full compliance with Public Works requirements before work can proceed.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that county authorities have asked CMC to present all necessary Public Works documentation prior to commencing construction on the project. According to sources, the county already has a separate blueprint for a similar bridge project in the same area.
As of the time of this report, construction materials have already been delivered to the site, and groundbreaking activities are expected to be held today. Actual construction is reportedly expected to begin shortly after the ceremony.
Neither the county leadership nor representatives of CMC have made any official comments regarding the reported documentation concerns.
Meanwhile, citizens—particularly those in communities expected to benefit from the bridge—have expressed strong support for the project. Many are urging county officials to back the initiative regardless of political affiliations.
The proposed bridge, strongly backed by Bong County District Three Representative Josiah Marvin Cole and CMC political leader Musa Bility aims to improve connectivity and ease transport challenges for residents in and around Liberia.
