By: Morlu F. Freeman Sr.

In a significant development for agricultural initiatives in Liberia, the official launch of the harvest by the Four United Brothers Vegetables Rice Incorporated took place on October 18, 2025, in Kahilljala Town, Kolahun District, Lofa County. The event was graced by Hon. Stanley N. Brima, Assistant Minister for Communal Farming from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Comprising 25 dedicated members, the Four United Brothers Vegetables Rice Agriculture Incorporated has been engaged in vegetable farming for several years and has successfully cultivated 11 hectares of low swamp land through their committed efforts. This official launch serves as a testament to their hard work and the growing importance of farming in the region.

During the ceremony, Minister Brima commended the organization for actively contributing to one of the government’s key agendas by working the land to produce rice, which is vital for addressing food security and reducing starvation in Liberia. He emphasized the initiative’s importance not only for local communities but also for the broader region.

In a gesture of support and appreciation, Minister Brima, on behalf of Hon. Francis Sakila Nyumalin, Minister of Internal Affairs, donated 50,000 Liberian Dollars to the Four United Brothers Vegetables Rice Agriculture Incorporated. This donation aims to empower the group and encourage other citizens in the region to engage in large-scale agricultural endeavors.

Abas Mark Biaty, the Agriculture Coordinator for Lofa County, hailed the launch as a significant milestone and acknowledged the progress made by the Four United Brothers in promoting local rice production. His organization collaborates with various partners, including the World Food Programme (WFP) and BRAC Liberia, to enhance agricultural practices in the area.

City Mayor Caroline M. Momoh of Kolahun City also expressed her appreciation for the investments made by the Four United Brothers. She urged the Ministry of Agriculture to expand swamp farming techniques to benefit more citizens involved in similar agricultural activities.

Christopher Mawolo, CEO and Farm Manager of the organization, expressed gratitude to all partnering agencies that have contributed to their success. He assured that the 50,000 LD donation will be used effectively as intended.

After observing the impressive yield from their rice fields, Manager Mawolo requested further support from the Ministry of Agriculture to facilitate a swift harvest and ensure the proper preservation of their produce.

This initiative promises to enhance communal farming and significantly increase rice production in Liberia, helping to combat hunger and foster agricultural development across the country.
