Corruption Claims Rock RIA: Nyumah Demands Probe, Blames Political Nepotism

Harbel, Margibi – In a fiery and unexpected move, J. Stanley Nyumah, Sr., a member of Unity Party who recently suspended his membership from the party, issuing a strong rebuke of the management at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) and the party’s silence on alleged corruption and political discrimination within the institution.

Just minutes after distancing himself from the Unity Party over what he described as “lack of recognition,” Nyumah released a blistering statement targeting the leadership at RIA. His statement condemned what he described as high-level corruption, unethical procurement practices, and a dangerous culture of political favoritism at the country’s main international airport.

The resignation of the Deputy Managing Director for Administration at the Roberts International Airport ~ especially on the ground of high-level corruption and improper procurement processes ~ raises a monumental concern about accountability,” Nyumah said in his statement. “In my opinion, this is a serious red flag that should have been investigated expeditiously.”

Nyumah, a public administration lecturer and long-time Unity Party stalwart, criticized the RIA Board for what he alleged was a cover-up, claiming they moved quickly to protect their own rather than pursue a transparent investigation.

According to him, political loyalty has become the key qualification for key RIA positions. He named several top RIA officials he claimed were affiliated with opposition parties ~ particularly the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) and the Alternative National Congress (ANC) ~ while accusing the airport of relegating qualified Unity Party members to janitorial positions.

He pointed to Managing Director Mr. Mendscole as a “staunch supporter of the ANC,” listing other officials including Mr. Enders, Mr. Eddie Johnson, Mr. George Youh, Mr. Dukuly, and Mr. Pyne Minikon as loyal CDC members occupying critical managerial roles at the RIA.

“This case illustrates a potentially dangerous abuse of loyalty,” Nyumah stated. “The silence of the party’s leadership is politically risky.”

Expressing disappointment in the Unity Party’s leadership, Nyumah thanked his supporters for standing with him during over two decades of political engagement, especially during challenging campaign periods. He concluded with a note of personal transition.

It’s saddened. IT SHALL BE WELL. I am returning to the farm,” he said.

Nyumah’s suspension and public condemnation come at a time when the Unity Party is facing mounting internal pressures and external scrutiny. His statements are expected to stir further debate over transparency, political patronage, and internal cohesion within both the Unity Party and the governance structures it oversees.

As of press time, neither the Unity Party leadership nor the management at RIA has officially responded to Nyumah’s claims.
