Serious allegations of misconduct have surfaced against the Grand Gedeh County Attorney, Cllr. Wiknis Nah, who is being accused of interfering in a criminal case involving a Chinese national allegedly responsible for stabbing a Liberian worker.
The victim, Mr. Arthur Yalatie, a laborer at Liberia Ever Prosperous ~ a Chinese-Liberian joint venture operating in the county ~ claims he was stabbed in the right arm by a Chinese colleague several weeks ago while on duty.
Speaking to reporters in Zwedru, Yalatie said that shortly after the incident, he filed a formal complaint to the County Attorney’s office. Initially, Cllr. Nah assured him the matter would be handled according to the law. However, the victim now alleges that the County Attorney has not only abandoned the case but is actively working against him.
“He (Cllr. Nah) promised to handle the case professionally, but now he won’t even talk to me. Instead, he’s threatening to have me arrested,” Yalatie claimed.
Yalatie further alleged that over the past weekend, he saw the County Attorney on the company’s premises in the Kuda Bypass community, accompanied by members of the company’s management. According to him, multiple coworkers believe that Cllr. Nah may have received a bribe to suppress the case.
“The attorney I trusted to ensure justice is now deviating from the rightful path,” Yalatie said, expressing frustration over the financial and emotional toll the ordeal has taken on him.
Determined to seek justice, Yalatie vowed to take the matter to national authorities in Monrovia, hoping that higher-level intervention will ensure a fair outcome.
Despite multiple attempts, this newspaper was unable to reach Cllr. Nah for comment, as all efforts proved unsuccessful.
The case has sparked growing concerns about the integrity of legal processes in Grand Gedeh and potential undue influence in matters involving foreign investors.
