Monrovia, Liberia – In a major step toward strengthening public sector accountability and efficiency, the Civil Service Agency (CSA), in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), has announced the launch of a nationwide personnel and credential verification exercise.
Set to begin on August 18, 2025, the initiative aims to verify the qualifications and credentials of all Ministry of Internal Affairs employees across Liberia’s 15 counties.
The exercise was formally introduced during a commissioning ceremony, where CSA Director-General Dr. Josiah F. Joekai Jr. emphasized its significance. He noted that the effort goes beyond simple data collection-serving instead as a foundation for building a more credible, efficient, and responsible civil service.
“This process is vital for ensuring that we have accurate and verified information on every employee,” Dr. Joekai said. “It will support compliance, improve performance management, and strengthen decision-making. Ultimately, this is part of a broader plan to roll out similar verification efforts across all civil service institutions.”
Minister of Internal Affairs Hon. Francis Sakila Nyumalin applauded the CSA’s leadership and technical support, calling the initiative a key milestone in the Ministry’s efforts to modernize its workforce.
“This is a significant step toward institutional reform and development,” Minister Nyumalin said. “It will help us identify capacity gaps, streamline our workforce, and ensure that we are operating with integrity and professionalism.”
The verification will be conducted in phases, beginning in select counties and expanding nationwide. The Government of Liberia views this effort as part of its broader commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and improved public service delivery.
